2012 Area Board Meetings
Beginning in March 2012, the Gwinnett County Board of Education will go on the road, as it does each year, meeting once in each Board member's district. The meetings are a time for the School Board to share information with the public and for citizens to discuss education topics with their elected officials. They also are an opportunity to hear CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks' annual address on the state of the school district, focusing on the district's strategic direction, recent successes and new initiatives, and current budget challenges.
The 2012 Area Board Meetings are organized by the schools in each Board member's new electoral district. Citizens my attend any one of the five meetings, however. All meetings begin at 7 p.m. in the host school's theater, with refreshments served at 6:30 p.m.
The change in Board district lines does not affect attendance zones for schools or boundaries for clusters. (Note: Voter precincts are used to determine School Board districts and are different from school attendance boundaries. An individual’s residence, not the school attended, determines which School Board member represents a particular resident.)
